Christmas in England

Leslie Hollingshead writes an optimistic account to the editor of The Streetsville Review about camp life in England. He praises the women of Winchester’s churches for their outstanding hospitality as well as the volunteers of the Soldier’s Club who have fed and amused over 150,000 soldiers since the beginning of the war. It is clear from this letter that many made great efforts to ensure ‘the lads in khaki’ felt at ease while boarding away from their homes.
