Spanish Flu

The Spanish Flu is quickly becoming an epidemic. The Streetsville Review of October 10, 1918 reports “a few cases in Streetsville, but not serious.” By October 17, the flu is spreading and is “no joke” with 200 deaths in Toronto since the beginning of the month. On October 31, The Review gives notice from the Medical Health Officer that all public gatherings are prohibited until further notice, Victory Loan meetings excepted, as the epidemic is getting beyond medical control.
