Jack Bailey Writes Home

A letter from Jack W. Bailey to his parents’ home in Streetsville. Jack recounts the night attack his battalion pulled off on the Germans (referred to collectively as ‘Fritz’) which according to the date of the letter would have taken place during the Battle of Messines: “We moved up from supports to our front line… we were told to get ready and then all of our guns opened up as one and machine guns too, and then over we went in great style, moving steadily forward until we got to our final objective.”
